Switching Countries

Switching Countries

Hi there,

Been using Spotify Premium (Australia) for the past 4 months and absolutely loving it. Probably the best subscription I've paid for. Spotify has now become available in Singapore and it is only 10SGD (it is 11.99AUD in Australia) so I would like to switch my Premium Account to a Singapore account with my Singapore Credit Card.

I am just wondering if I switch now, will Spotify charge me again for April again? (Despite the fact I have already paid for my April subscription - from the 11/04/13) Also if I switch will all my playlists still be available for me? - are they attached to my Spotify Account? Or will I have to remake all my playlists?

Furthermore does anyone know what the coverage of music is like for Singapore? I know that there were some tracks not available to me in Australia that my friends had access to with a European Account.

Please let me know,

Thanks,

Jason

Also can here to say the same thing;

When I relocated to Malaysia, was still continuing paying for the Australian premium account. But now seeing the Malaysian premium price is almost third of the price; makes sense to switch. I believe they now made the option to change country in your profile settings (I remember they didn't have this option before and needed to email the staff to change before).

I just cancelled my subscription which will expire in a few days. I think everyone's monthy payment is different depending on the day you switched to premium; so if you already paid, you can cancel the subscription and it will only expire after 30 days of your date. I don't think you can get a refund.

Would like to know too the coverage of music difference to Australia. Hope its more or less the same.

Hey there!

So you're looking to make the switch to your account from being Australia-based to Singapore-based? Well, your account location is based off of the payment method location - Your account profile will show up as Singaporean if you use a Singapore-based Credit Card or PayPal account or Malaysian if you use a Malaysia-based Credit Card or PayPal account.

Now, I do not know for sure about what happens when it comes to switching your payment methods in the middle of a subscription cycle. That has never happened to me before and I don't think I will change my Premium subscription right now for the sake of not having any bad happenings for myself (as I got into a bit of a fuss with a restaurant for messing up a Credit Card transaction that caused double charges) just to check on this one. The safest bet, to be honest, is to wait for the time prior to the subscription's end date (a day before, probably,) and change the payment method at that time.

Music availability depends on the content owner's geographic availability. Therefore, what's available in Australia may not be available in Singapore. For example, some of Spain's local hits might sound great... but they may not be allowed to be heard in the United States because the Spanish record label doesn't want to release it to them to listen for the same amount of royalty fees that the Spanish have to pay. More or less, the local Australian bands or musicians may not have their music available in Singapore and certain other artists may lock down on their availability in Singapore. You may want to check up on that once you make the transition - nothing is guaranteed. If, in the unfortunate case, the tracks you want to listen to are unavailable in Singapore, consider buying it off somewhere!

Keep on [party] rocking!

I put my heart to almost every response,
so if you found my response helpful, "kudo" me!

Thanks for your reply. I guess I will keep that in mind, will definitly only change the payment details right before the end of my subscription month.

I guess I hope non of my favorite tracks arnt available on the Singapore version, it's probably still worth trying it for the lower price here in Singapore.

Thanks again for your reply.

Hello,

Just an additional information for people checking out his thread.

I was previously subscribed to Spotify Premium under US account since last year. With Spotify Singapore recent launch I decided to take the switch to the Singapore subscription. The billing system notifies me that it will only charge the new subscription when the old one ends although my account is migrated straight away to Singapore version.

Spotify still works for me now, for a cheaper cost. But some tracks aren't available anymore. My current playlist was cut down from 50 tracks to 36. Other than that it works fine.

Here is to hoping that those grayed out tracks will be available in Singapore soon.

Hope that helps 🙂
