Today the new Android-app was released to my device and I updated. For some strange reason I now on my Android device have 20 artists in my artists-list, all with 0 tracks. They are not displayed on the PC or on iPhone
I have not added any songs or albums to "Your music" so those lists are and I can't find anything reason why just these 20 artists are displayed. I tried to install the new app on a device which have never had any previous Spotify install, same issue!
Version 0.7.9.1170
Tested on Xperia Z, 4.2.2, Galaxy S4 4.4.2, iPhone 5 IOS7.1

@mros I moved your post to the android section. Some people are seeing this bug and it seems to relate to artists you are following for which you have no music added on the phone. The devs are aware and it should be fixed in a future update.
Followed artists are currently listed in Your Music. Unfollow them and they'll disappear.
Looks to me like in artists it lists all artists you have in playlists, it has helped me considerably when reviewing who to add into 'my music'
I find this feature helpful, I.e I could see all artists from my playlists and review them, view artist albums etc nice and easy to add to my collections if I wanted. I dont think this is a defect. Should allow users to choose how this works with setting maybe.
Hi there ... I have the same problem. I have some artists listed in 'ARTISTS' but none of them have any tracks. I am not following these artists (I even tried following and unfollowing).
Any help appreciated ... it seems like if it's this hard to remove an artist it must be a bug..?
Thanks.
I have artists with 0 tracks and they are all artists I follow. In fact, I rather like this since I can add artists without adding any music 🙂
Anyway, I unfollowed one of these from the desktop client and the band disappeared from Artists for me. I'm not sure what else could be causing the issue you're seeing but you can get in touch with the support guys here and they should be able to help. If you get an automated response directing you back to the community or to the help pages, please reply to it to speed things along.
I'd be really interested to hear what they say as this is puzzling 🙂
I like it too @andedrunkard 🙂
this is odd. I think the desktop client is different to the app on android. Last night i saw the same issue as you, and found it was showing all artists that i had in playlists (as per my post) but then this morning ive loaded the desktop app and theres non with the same characteristics. The only artists i see are artists that i have added into 'my music' as an album or a song (which adds them to songs if you add the album)... so it isnt the same as starring which someone posted on the community.
I am puzzled too now, i wasnt last night... ! 🙂
seems to be a duplicate of this subject, see my last post jwylot... any ideas? does the desktop version have different methods of showing artists? I actually found that really useful to find who i wanted to store in my albums.
Yes, it looks like this feature (or bug depending on your point of view) only happens on android. The devs are aware so I'm sure it will be fixed in a future release.
You're right - we have two threads so I'm going to merge them.
Oooh that brings back memories. Got any Bob the Builder?
Hopefully spotify can sort and maybe explain things. Have you had an automated email back from them yet? Make sure to reply to it if you do get one.
hi guys, to help explain how it looks, took a pic of the android feature, see below.
It means that i can see at glance from my playlists, who i have been listening to, and then when i come down this list i can quickly choose the 'save album' option to save to my music.
I think from memory on the android, also adds ALL the albums songs in as 'my songs', which is kinda pants as i dont want to have ALL the album in there until i have listened to it.
