Solved!

2 devices, strange problem, please help!

I have 2 devices with 1 account.  Both devices have the songs downloaded for offline use (I don't stream ever).  If I open Spotify on one device, the other device sometimes starts Spotify and plays music (controlling both devices while only using 1).  I can even change songs on the other device while not even touching it.  Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?

Yes, it doesn't work if a device is in offline mode.

It's called connect. Go to spotify settings on the device you want to use and click on "Show available devices" under Spotify Connect.

Select the device in your hand and it will now play on the device you are holding.

Looks like you're right.  I've never gone into this setting though.  Is there a way to turn it off?

Nope, but when you launch the app it should give you the option at the bottom to transfer playback to the device you are currently using (or at least it does on iOS).

On android, it plays to the last connected device unless that device is unavailable so once you set it to play to itself, it will stay that way until you change it. Net effect is same as turning it off.

But, if you then start spotify on device 2, it will also be set to play on device 1 so you'll need to reset it. As Peter said, there's no way to turn it off.

Thanks for the responses.  The problem is that I have Spotify set to automatically start when my Bluetooth connects to my car.  Just doing this will start playing the other device.

If I put my devices in offline mode, will this take care of the 'connect' issue?
