My Question or Issue

It happens oftenly when I'm using the Android app and a notification from WhatsApp o anything causes a sound. Spoyify pauses and closes immediately after, so i have to open the app again, wait until it loads to resume playing. Often it means the track i was listening (podcast, oftenly) rewinds some seconds or starts over again. 

 

I have reinstalled the app many times and it happens again and again.

Apologies for the delayed response, we just came across this thread.

 

As we haven’t seen any similar posts about this recently, could you let us know if you’re still having troubles with this?

 

If you are, we recommend that you check the phone's battery settings and make sure that Spotify is set as an exception if you're using the battery optimization option.

 

It's also a good idea to check that Spotify has the permissions to run in the background.

 

If that's not causing the issue, could you let us your Spotify version and, if possible, if you experience this on other mobile devices?

 

We'll be on the lookout for your answer and we'll see what we can suggest next. Let us know if there's anything else we can do for you in the meantime.

I'm having the same exact problem as the original poster and wondering if anything else has been uncovered about this issue. My version is 8.5.89.901 and I'm using the following profile.

 

Android menu settings:

>Battery Optimization OFF

>Background Data ON

>Access to unrestricted data in Data Saver mode ON

>All permissions enabled

>Unrestricted data access in the "Special app access" menu ON

 

In-app settings that seem related:

>Data Saver is OFF

>Spotify Connect in background is ON

>Wifi/Cellular streaming quality are High

>Download quality is Normal

>Download using cellular is ON

 

Before and after toggling these, the problem persists. Virtually all notifications that appear in the notif bar trigger the app to close. Some events that pause audio like calls and sound-only notifs have a 50-50 chance to resume play or close the app.

We'd suggest you give these steps a go and run a clean reinstall. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

 

In case you're using an SD card, you can remove it, reinstall Spotify and then try running the app without the SD. Are there any changes?

 

If possible, can you check if the issue occurs on other mobile devices?
