Again that annoying update / download topic!

Hi,
Actually I'm on a longer trip in South-America and love(d) to have my music with me - on Spotify. Well the app did an update and now... (sorry but **bleep**!) it still 'knows' my playlist - but non of the songs are status 'downloaded' though there still there on my SD card: android/data/com.Spotify. music/files/spotifycache/storage/00 ... and so on!
SO WHY CAN'T THE UPDATED APP VERSION RECOGNISE THESE ALREADY DOWNLOADED FILES?
Do you have any idea how long it takes with a shared WiFi connection to download? (despite I don't WANT as they are still there)
So please advice with concrete actions to take (Android 6.0.1, device SM-G900FD)
