Album art is zoomed in on lock screen

Album art is zoomed in on lock screen

On Android pie the album art is shown on the lock screen. It is zoomed in to bring the top and bottom to the edges of the screen. The problem is is that cuts off words and parts of the image, An option to add bessel to the top and bottom of lockscreen to show entire art and add controls would be appreciated.

Hey @r-3uel_d3vj2g.

Thanks for reaching out to us about this!

Do you mind sending over a screenshot to show what it looks like on your end?

That way, we'll be able to determine whether this is expected behaviour, or whether there's something up which needs looking into.

Thanks! We'll be looking out for your reply 😉

Thanks for responding. Here is my lockscreen and the notification center.

Hey @r-3uel_d3vj2g.,

Thanks for the screenshot.

We can confirm this is expected behaviour - this is most likely because album cover art is usually square, and in order for it to fit the entirety of the rectangular screen of a smartphone it needs to be zoomed in.

If you want to view the album art without the sides being cut out, you can go to the album in Spotify and tap on the cover - it will then zoom in so that it fits the screen.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions 🙂

Is there a way to change how it looks on my lockscreen?

Hey @r-3uel_d3vj2g,

There currently isn't a way of changing it, but there's an idea in the Community for making it possible to disable it - you can check it out here.

Bear in mind you can always create an idea for yourself in the Idea Exchange by going here.

Hope that helps!
