Android App Not Sending Track Info Via Bluetooth / iOS App Works Fine

Spotify on my wife's iPhone connects to my '15 Subaru with no issue. Track information is sent across perfectly, and updates with every new track, and I can pause/resume/skip with the buttons on the stereo just fine.

If I try this with any Android device, though, I get really lame results. Only the first track's information ever shows up, pause doesn't work half of the time, next/previous track doesn't work half of the time. I've tried this with a Galaxy S4, LG G3, and an older Sony Xperia. All have the same issues, while other apps on those phones do not.

Why is the iOS app working so well, but the Android one failing at every turn, as far as this bluetooth connection is concerned?
