My Question or Issue

When utilizing Spotify to play music through Android Auto, Motion Sense controls do not work. The Motion Sense bar will light up and accept input (shows left and right swipes registering) but the commands aren't being interpreted by the player and nothing happens. Changing the music player to a different app works fine with Motion Sense. Reinstalled both Android Auto and Spotify as part of my troubleshooting.

Motion Sense and Spotify work together outside of Android Auto properly.

Hey @jdasilva92

Thanks for reaching out to us, and welcome to the Community 🙂

We understand you’ve already tried reinstalling. However, we’d like to suggest a clean reinstall of both apps, as this is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble. You'll find a guide for the Spotify app here.

You could also ask a friend or a family member to log in to their personal account using your phone to see if they can replicate it.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the response.

I've tried the suggestions but did not have any success.

Hey @jdasilva92,

Thanks for getting back to us 🙂

Just to double-check- does the issue occur with another account?

In case you're using any battery optimization or power saving apps, you can deactivate them for Spotify.

We'd suggest you also check if your phone's OS has any pending updates.

Keep us in the loop! We'll be right here if you have any questions.

Hi

I've tested with a test account provided by support and the problem persisted. Everything is fully updated (OS, Apps) and no battery saving settings are turned on.

Hey @jdasilva92

Thanks for getting back in touch.

Could you let us know if the Spotify app works fine without Motion Sense?

Additionally, we'd suggest that you check the Car view mode as an alternative in the meantime.

We'll be on the lookout.

Yes it works fine minus that one piece of functionality.

It appears the most recent update may have fixed this!

Hey @jdasilva92,

We're glad to know that it was sorted out!

If you need a hand with anything else, we're always a post away.
