My Question or Issue
Hi, my Android Auto has suddenly started crashing. It was working but not just stops during the first song. I've tried clearing the cache but to no avail.
What should I do?
Hey @duncspur,
Thanks for posting on the Community!
Could you check for updates for the Spotify app? If no update appears, you can try a clean reinstall. This ensures that you're running the latest app version.
It's also a good idea to check that Spotify has the permissions to run in the background. You should be able see this in device settings.
Let us know how it works out.
Hi Maria,
I've tried a clean reinstall but this problem continues. What happens is that I will make a journey and it works fine. However, when I get back in the car to make a return journey (or continue on), Android Auto will start but Spotify crashes within it. I am usually just left with a spinning circle for the journey. Everything else in Android Auto (Google Maps, etc), works fine.
Thanks for trying these steps @duncspur!
Have you tried to see if it makes any difference when you change your internet connection?
What you can also try to see if the issue persists is to close both the Spotify and Android Auto apps then reopen them, as well as make sure your phone's software and both apps are updated to the latest versions.
Keep us posted.
Hi @duncspur,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
We understand other apps are working correctly on Android Auto, but we still recommend at least resetting the Internet connection on your mobile device. To do it, go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset network settings. Additionally, you can try to Sign out everywhere from this link.
Keep us posted!
Unfortunately, that doesn't help. Did all the steps mentioned above too. Please advice something else that'd actually work. thanks
Hi there @nadzz_18,
Thanks for posting in this thread!
Just to confirm, does the same thing happen if you connect another device to your car? Are you experiencing similar issues when using Bluetooth or Connect to other devices? For example speakers or TVs.
Also, if possible, could you ask a friend or family member to log in to their own Spotify account on your device to check if you notice any difference?
Keep us in the loop.
