Android Tablet: Comment overlay during video playback blocking the screen

Android Tablet: Comment overlay during video playback blocking the screen

While watching a JRE episode an overlay came up with the Q & A on my Samsung tablet. It won't go away a´d is obscuring the subtitles which is a pain. My dad likes to watch these, but as an elderly person he needs these. On my Phone (also Samsung) it works perfectly.

Hey there @Kogymo

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Does this Q&A popup remain on screen when restarting the application? And also have you noticed it behaving in the same way in other JRE episodes?

Make sure to check if the application is up to date on the tablet as that might be why this interactive segment of the podcast didn't behave as intended.

Keep us posted.

Hello,
My Spotify app was updated last on April 22nd. I have it on several episodes of the same podcast.
I did reboot the app, I even rebooted my tablet.
Attached you can find a screenshot of it.

Hey @Kogymo

Thanks for getting back to us,

Sadly we did not receive the screenshot you mentioned, If the file is too large to attach, you can upload it to Google Drive (make sure to allow general access to the file) or as an unlisted YouTube video. Also we would advise to clear Spotify's cached data on your device, as that may have something to do with this.

Check out out article on the topic.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

My Question or Issue

When I am watching a video podcast in fullscreen mode, the "Comments" section appears on the bottom of the screen, its very distracting.  If I am offline, its replaced with "Contents (auto-generated)".  This would be easiest to demonstrate with the screenshot I took, but I apparently cannot, because "You must be signed in to add attachments" even though I am currently signed in on this website right now.  Also, your bugreporting mechanism is very bad.  I would like to just report a bug from the app, instead of searching the web and reading instructions for 30 minutes about how to do it (and retrying about 8 times).

Update: Submitting the bugreport on the tablet didn't work and the page is now permanently glitched so I had to redo it on my phone.  On the bright side, I can actually add an attachment now.

Hey @lemonnyElephant,

We merged your post here, hope you don't mind 🙂
Please try clearing your cached data as @MartinT has suggested. If this doesn't help out, you can go for a complete clean reinstall of the app instead to see if that would make a difference.

Note: Keep in mind that this will remove your offline content. It will redownload the next time you open the app, depending on your data download settings.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted 🙌🏼

Hi Vasil,

Thanks for merging.  I tried an uninstall and new install previously, and I just tried it again to make sure, and that did not fix the issue, unfortunately.

I also tried it again, closely following your linked instructions for a complete clean reinstall, and the result is still the same.

Hey @lemonnyElephant,

Thank you for letting us know 🙂
We've moved this backstage so that our tech folks can check what's going on and we'll let you know when there's an update on the matter. Many thanks & have a good one!
