This is some odd behaviour indeed.
As it seems to be an isolated case, I'd suggest doing a complete clean reinstall to see if that makes a difference.
In case you don't wish to directly remove the entire app, you may try removing only your cached data first.

Unfortunately a complete ReInstall doesn't fix the problem. I still crash back to home screen if I try to change the language 😕

That's a bit discouraging! Fret not though, we will find where the issue stems from.
In order to do so we'll have to do some detective work first..
If someone else can log in to test how their account behaves on your device, that would be great!
You can do the same with your account + someone else's phone as well.
If all goes well, we'll end up knowing if this issue is device- or account-related.

with an other account on my device the problem still exist. Unfortunately I hadn't the chance yet to try my account with an other Android 13 device.
Current installed version is 8.8.12.545 if it helps you.

Thanks for getting back to us and for the testing you've done so far.
We can recommend that you check the phone's battery settings and make sure that Spotify is set as an exception if you're using the battery optimization option.
In case the issue persists, could you let us know if you experience this when connected to 5G, Wi-Fi or both?

We'd like to investigate further. Could you share the following details:
Does this issue occur when switching to a specific language or with all languages in general? A short screen recording which captures the app's behavior in action would also be greatly appreciated.
If you've set a custom system font on your phone try reverting it to the default one to see if that does the trick.
