My Question or Issue
Everytime I listen to music with spotify while the phone screen is off, a few tracks in, when it moves to the next track, it stops playing, just silence. Upon checking, the 'playback' on the next track is actually 'still going' as the elapsed time counter is counting up. It even keeps going way past the song's total time, which is a clear indication of a bug. The only way to fix is to skip a track forward or back, or touch the seekbar. Very annoying and makes listening to whole albums or playlists nigh impossible. I have attached a screenshot as evidence.
This has been ongoing for a while, but after the lastest update, it became more frequent. Happens every time after 2-3 songs.
I have already done a full clean reinstall, clearing cache & data, and phone restart, the whole shebang, and it still remains. I hope it can be looked at or a ticket raised with the android app devs.
Hi @MoombaSP,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
Good job for already trying some troubleshooting steps and sharing them with us, it really helps us investigate the issue further.
Have you also tried if the same thing happens on a different device? If not, it'd be great if you could log into a relative's or a friend's account on your mobile phone to see if that'll change anything. If the issue remains, let us know if you're using an SD-card so we can help you try without it afterwards.
Keep us updated 🙂
I have the same issue. I just changed my phone, new has Android 14, old one was Android 12 and had no such issues. Spotify is reinstalled, but issue remains.
Hey @KM40,
Thanks for reaching out.
This might have something to do with a battery/memory-optimizing system feature. Please go through your phone's settings and make sure that the Spotify app is set as an exception in any similar services.
Let us know if this helps.
Tested. No, doesn't help.
Hey @KM40,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
We understand you've already tried reinstalling the app on your device, but we'd like you to try a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the Spotify app. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can find out the steps to take here.
If this behavior persists after that, and just to confirm, do you use any cache-clearing or task-killing apps? Take into account that these apps can affect the performance of the app. If yes, try to set Spotify as an exception to those.
Lastly, would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you're running on your device? Just to confirm, is this happening if you open a different account on your device? You can ask for the account of a relative or a friend to open it on your device and check.
Keep us in the loop!
Stessa cosa e' capitata anche a me da mesi , spesso mentre ascolto uno o più canzoni Spotify si interrompe in modo anomalo mentre uso altre app.
