Android audio routing messed up since 7.0.0.1369

Hi people,

I've encountered a serious audio routing problem on my device since version 7.0.0.1369. It's the same on version 7.0.0.1371.

What's the problem? I use Spotify together with Waze navigation all the time. My phone is connected with a 3,5mm jack and cable to my car stereo. Spotify comes through the speakers of my stereo. Up and until version 6.9.0.1212 when Waze gave a spoken navigation instruction, Spotify would mute 50%, and Waze would say the instructions through the phone's speaker, like I set it up to do.

Since version 7.0.0 the following happens: at the moment of an instruction of Waze, Spotify doesn't mute anymore. Instead, it transfers to the phone's speaker together with the Waze instruction. Both are hearable at the same time through the phone. At the end of the instruction, Spotify audio transfers back to the car stereo like it was before.

Now, this is very annoying! The switching back and forth is annoying. The mixed sound is annoying cause I can't understand the instruction anymore. It's awful. Please bring the functionality back like it was under 6.9.

I did an extra check by reverting to v6.9 once more, where all was fine. Yes, I'm storing apk's of every version since Spotify seriously screwed up audio ducking in 2014 for a long time.

Version 7.1.0.1025 doesn't fix this audio routing problem.

I'm reverting back to 6.9.0.1212 again.

Thank you! v7.4.0.1799 finally fixed this annoying problem. Hopefully it'll never be back!

Unfortunately, I cheered too soon. The problem was only partially fixed.

When Spotify plays music over A2DP bluetooth connection, the behaviour is fixed. On a Waze instruction, the Spotify audio is ducked, but keeps coming over the A2DP connection.

When Spotify plays over the cable from the 3,5mm jack of my phone though, the problem still persists. So, on a Waze instruction, the Spotify audio stops playing through the 3,5mm jack and comes through the phone's loudspeaker instead. When the instruction is finished, Spotify audio returns to the 3,5 mm jack cable.

This behaviour is confirmed for versions 7.4 and 7.5.
