App does not remember where I left off

 Am I the only one totally annoyed by Spotify's Android app inability to remember what I was listening to before I closed the app, the next time I open the app?

Seems like sometimes it does remember and sometimes it doesn't. If i'm playing from a playlist sometimes it will revert back two or three tracks before what I was actually listening to. 

If I add a bunch of tracks to my queue and close the app sometimes it will remember the queue, sometimes it will clear it, sometimes it will play a random song I listened to some days ago then resume my queue.

What is the issue? I might be in the minority, but this has bugged me to the point of thinking of signing up for competing services just to see how they fare with this.
