App eating up tons of mobile data?

Just listened to 2 hours of streaming music and the app ate up 500mb of data??


I'm on version 2.2.0.636. I'm connected with AT&T LTE network. It's set to "normal" quality and download over cell networks is disabled.

At the ~96kbps that is supposed to be normal quality,it should be using around 50mb per hour. Instead its using 5 times that!

Is there something else going on that could use up so much data?

Advertisements and features like browse can use up data as well. Does Spotify have the space and been given the time to build a cache? Definately shouldn't be at 500 just from spotify though.

It is a fairly new install, what goes into the cache that could be so large?

Can you confirm how you identified this data usage? Possibly a screen shot?

Maybe try a clean install as well; follow the guide linked in my signature to do it properly

From the Android data usage screen. My carriers app pretty much agrees with the usage as well. I'll try a clean install.

The app info page also shows that the app has 385MB of "data" and the cache is 3.6MB.

What would all that data be? None of my saved music is available in offline mode.

Not sure. Suggest a complete clean install and make sure there are no Spotify folders left on your internal and sd card memory
