App keeps closing itself when running in background

App keeps closing itself when running in background

When I go to play my playlist and turn off my phone, the app closes itself after a few minutes. I've tried doing multiple troubleshoot steps. Everything is up to date and battery saver is not turned on. I have tried logging out and logging in again but nothing has changed.

Great troubleshooting so far! It's also a good idea to check that Spotify has the permissions to run in the background.

 

We can recommend that you check the phone's settings as well and ensure no power optimization settings or data cleaning apps run active on your mobile device. Such features can often prevent the app from operating at full capacity.
 

If that's not causing the issue, could you let us your Spotify version and, if possible, if you experience this on other mobile devices?

Spotify 8.8.96.364, premium account, keeps terminating on my Galaxy S22+

Could you give us more info about the situation? Are you experiencing the same behavior described by the original poster? Or is it different? Additionally, let us know what troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. And if you already tried everything recommended by @Lyubka.

Lastly, send over the Android version on your device.

Same behavior. No power optimization or background usage limits configured. I don't have any data cleaning apps. Settings | Apps | Spotify | App Permissions does not list background permissions. Android 13. Last software update 11/23/2023. Tried clearing cache on Spotify. No impact. I don't have trouble with any other audio apps that play in the background, for example, Audible, or Podbean. The Spotify problem happens on both cellular and strong connection wifi networks. My playlists are downloaded, so this is not likely to be related to data availability. The Spotify process seems to go away. When I unlock the phone after the music has mysteriously terminated Spotify no longer appears in my open apps.

In this case, we'd recommend reaching out to Samsung support and going through your phone's settings together with them to try and find any that might be causing this behavior.
