My Question or Issue

An issue arose recently where upon opening Spotify, with playback paused, merely opening the app would result in the shutoff of my device's Bluetooth function.

At first it was only upon first-opening, but eventually began happening every so often upon unlocking my phone and opening the app, even if playback was in progress.

Today it ceased Bluetooth function near-completely, as upon crashing once my device would continually attempt to re-enable Bluetooth to no avail. It has been possible to open the app with Bluetooth disabled, begin playback, then enable Bluetooth, but only for a moment before a system notification says that Bluetooth has stopped working. This issue persists until the Spotify app is completely shut-off from the advanced settings for the application, and until it is shut-off Bluetooth will crash endlessly until a system notification stating 'Bluetooth keeps crashing' appears.

I have now cleared the cache, performed a clean re-install of the application twice, with no effect. I have not performed a factory reset of the phone, as this issue has only occurred while using Spotify and continues to be a problem rooted solely in the use of the Spotify mobile app. Bluetooth functions as normal using other applications such as the default Android music player, YouTube, and Twitch.

Hey @ZeLazerBass,

Apologies for the late reply here!
In your phone's app settings, try checking Spotify's permissions and disabling 'Nearby devices' to see if that makes a difference.
We'd also like to know what your Spotify app version is and we'd advise updating your Android to a more recent version of the OS (if possible).

We'll be on the lookout for your response.
Cheers!
