Hey @mmasti

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community.

First up, we'd recommend making sure that the Spotify app and the Android Auto app are up to date.

Also - could you let us know if you're able to use the controller when you connect your phone through USB?

Additionally, we suggest that you check this article to see if these troubleshooting steps do the trick.

Keep us posted! We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂

  1. My apps are up to date
  2. My car does not have USB

Hey @mmasti,

Thanks for getting back to us 🙂

In this case it's a good idea to give these steps a go and run a clean reinstall. That way you can make sure the app is up-to-date and the cache is not causing any issues.

Just to double check- Did these troubleshooting steps lead to any changes? You can also send us a video recording of what you're seeing. We'll investigate this further.

Let us know how it goes. We'll be right here if you have any questions.

Having the same problem with exclusively Spotify when using Android Auto. Controls from a bluetooth device seem to work on Spotify Stations for some reason but not Spotify. Non-Spotify related controls, such as volume control via a bluetooth device still work, even in Android Auto. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there folks,

Thanks for the info.

Can you try logging in with a different account on your devices to see if the issue is account related.

You can ask a friend or family member to log in with theirs or create a new free test account.

Let us know how you get on with this 🙂

What's the state of this issue? Had it since December and it's really annoying, no amount of reinstalling or logging in with different accounts work. The Bluetooth controls work unless I start android auto and then spotify just ignores bluetooth controls.

I did try those steps, the only thing that did solve the issue was rolling spotify back to 8.5.850
