Buffer when screen turns off

Buffer when screen turns off

I have an issue thats been going on for the past few weeks. Whenever I play music and my screen turns black (turning off) the music buffers. I thought maybe it was my earbuds so I got new ones, then figuring out that it was only when I had my phone off. I did a clean uinstall and install, tried to change settings, and tried different internet connections and haven't found a fix. I searched around a bit but I cant find a solution for my phone an A03. It worked find a few months ago, but I stopped using it and now its like this. Any solutions?

Hey @Nashi2,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done so far. To keep investigating your case, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists. This will help us understand if it could be account-related or not.

Also, could you check if it happens logging your account to another phone?

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hello,

I made a mistake and said it was buffering, but its only static. Thats a mistake on my part.

Nontheless, this is the list of everything I've tried.

- I logged in with a different account, and the static did stop on that account but when I logged back into mine the static was still there.

-I had someone log into my account, and the static was not current for them either.

-taking out my SD card which worked, but as soon as I remove it the static is back.

-clear data and cache also worked but only for 10ish minutes.

-clean uninstall and reinstall which did not work.

-I think it was called background battery usage, which I enabled and did not do anything.

Also i noticed another thing, it shows I have 3 SD cards and 1 internal storage. I don't know if its related but I thought I'd mention it.

I use a galaxy A03, android version 12.

My spotify version is 8.7.68.568

Hey @Nashi2,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

According to the info you shared, it could be account-related, but first, we can try something else. Would you mind trying with a different Wi-Fi connection to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one, you can try using a mobile data hotspot.

On the other hand, the multiple SD cards in the settings is an issue currently being investigated by the relevant team. You can check all the info in this Ongoing issue.

We'll be on the lookout.

I have the same device and am having the same issue.

Hey @TheAntiLamewad,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

In this case, we'd like to gather as many details as possible. For starters, can you share with us the troubleshooting you've tried so far? This way we can avoid repeating any steps.

On another note, can you let us know the exact OS of your device along with the Spotify version you've installed?

Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Keep us in the loop!

Hello.

Sorry for the late reply but I do have an update. I have also tried three different connections and at the time it didnt change anything, but recently the issue itself just sort of disappeared, I haven't gotten the time to use spotify but I did try today and it sounded fine while my phone was off and on. I didn't do anything besides what I have said before, so I don't know the exact solution or if it had just fixed itself overtime.

Hey @Nashi2!

We're glad this works now, thank you for keeping us posted!
@TheAntiLamewad could you check & confirm if this is resolved for you as well?
Thanks!

It has not been resolved for me.

I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting to wifi, uninstalling and reinstalling, and tweaking streaming/audio qualities.

Also this issue only happens when I have headphones in, songs play perfectly with the screen off when I don't have headphones in.

I have a Galaxy AO3s and my spotify version is 8.7.72.546

I don't believe this issue happened after any updates but spotify was working fine a few weeks ago.

Hey there @TheAntiLamewad

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

You mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind checking if you followed these specific steps to do so?

On another note, we suggest that you check if the OS of your phone has any pending updates.

Lastly, could you check if the same happens while using a different internet connection?

We'll be on the lookout.
