My Question or Issue

Once spotify is playing in my background, it stops showing the buttons 'back, pause and forward', I tried to install the latest version to fix it and it didn't work.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the feedback!

Judging from the video @TOverturf posted, what you're describing seems to be related to this ongoing issue about the Now Playing bar missing on Android. A fix should be on the way in an upcoming update, so stay tuned and make sure to keep the app up to date.

Cheers!

Hey there @joseegidio,

Thank you for reaching out to us in the Community.

We recommend that you perform a clean reinstall of the app. This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

If that doesn't do the trick - can you let us know which version of the app you have?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!

Hey @brenofrias,

Thank you for your reply in this thread.

Can you try with another internet connection to see if the issue persist?

Also - can you log in with another account - such as a friend's or a family member's to see if that makes any difference?

Keep us posted 🙂

Cheers!

Hey @Jeremy
Didn't work with a different internet connection and another account.
It was working perfectly before. It stopped out of the blue

Hey again @brenofrias,

Thank you for getting back in touch with us and for the troubleshooting steps you've taken so far.

Can you try the following:

  1. Soft reset of the device
  2. Ensure the operating system is up-to-date
  3. Ensure device has enough storage space
  4. If you have an SD card, check SD card for errors

Just to confirm - did you perform a clean reinstall? This is different than a quick reinstall and could be helpful to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Cheers!

1. Did it already
2. Up to date
3. Now that you made me clear the cache and storage, I have plenty
4. No SD card
5. Did it, as mentioned on #3
Maybe it's related to that last update. It was working fine before

It barely remained for a day, it came back again. I will try to wait if a new update might permanently fix the issue, cause I'm a beta user, so I'm updating the app all the time. 😞

The pause button keeps disappearing so I can stop the app playing. I have uninstall and reinstalled three or 4 times now. Very frustrating. Also the sleep timer keeps disappearing. Has been happening for a few days now.

Hi @crazylady!

We'd like to take a closer look at this. Could you share the following:

  • Your device's make, model and OS version.
  • The version of Spotify you're running.
  • A screenshot which shows the issue in action.

Thanks and cheers!

Hi, there is no error message.

It just says Spotify is trying to play.

The music plays but I cannot stop it unless I uninstall the app. There is
no pause button and no sleep timer and it doesn't display tune details on
my car audio system.

My phone updated today and I hoped that would resolve it but it hasn't.

I've completely uninstalled the app about 5 times now and am getting very
frustrated.

My phone is android Samsung Galaxy A52 5g.

I've attached the software details.

I would appreciate any help.

Catherine

EXACTLY my problem as well.

Same problem here. This is on a Pixel 6 Pro with the latest OS version. Spotify version 8.7.20.1261.

Hey folks!

A short screen recording which shows the app's behavior in action would be greatly appreciated. That way we can get a clear understanding of how things look on your end, since we weren't able to reproduce this.

Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. Samsung S10e. Android version 12.

Working fine, then the control buttons disappear. If there is anything playing, I have to uninstall the app to stop it. A reinstall fixes it for some random period - maybe only minutes, maybe days.

The previous screen shots from other users captures it. Chance of me *videoing* the problem is slim, as it's not predictable.

MEGA-annoying.

Spotify premium if that makes any difference

One way to reproduce this bug:

  1. Close all apps
  2. Open Spotify
  3. Restart the OS
  4. When it's on, the notification will be there (screenshot attached)

Yes the only way to switch the app off is to uninstall it every time.
