My Question or Issue

Can I transfer my music as albums - not as songs or a playlist - from Google Play Music (or its successor, YouTube Music) to Spotify Premium? I've tried a couple of apps: Soundiiz (Premium) and FreeYourMusic (free) with no success.

If anyone else comes here for answers, I had good luck from YouTube Music with the following:

Go to "Albums" and scroll down until all albums are showing

Ctrl-A (select all), Copy, and Paste as plain text into a Word doc or similar.

Do some crafty search-and-replace work to get rid of everything other than the album title and artist name, separated by a tab -- save as a CSV file. (you'll probably need to use some wildcards and a few other tricks; if you're good at Word this will take just a few minutes.

Use Soundiiz's tool for importing text files in their "albums" area, and upload the CSV file (https://soundiiz.com/tutorial/import-text-to-spotify).

It worked for about 700 of 750 albums, and Soundiiz gave me a nice csv file of which ones had failed.

Hi there @mrmeaning,

Thanks for reaching out about this.

You can check the solution from @ytbctb in this thread. It's also worth looking around in the Community, because other users have exchanged their experience around the forum, sharing what worked and what didn't with them.

Keep in mind that there are currently no official music transfer apps that we support, so we can't guarantee if everything will work out fine with transferring your music.

Hope you find this info useful. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have more questions.
