Can't add to Your Music

Can't add to Your Music

Hey guys

I have this problem now for several weeks in different forms:

If I save a song via the plus sign it gets a tick in the GUI but when I switch to another playlist and then back to the other one the song I just saved has no tick nor is it in my music.

The same happens when I want to safe an album except for the fact that the songs don't even get ticks in the GUI. When I close the app (or restart the phone) and then look up the album in my music, it's not there.

I already tried to clear the cache and log out of the app.

I didn't reinstall yet because I have the same problem also on the Windows app.

Does anybody know how to fix this? It seems to be a problem with my account in general.

Hmm if it's happening on 2 devices it does sound like a profile issue Let me escalate this so someone from the team can have a look

Hey @xuno_ch

Approximately how many tracks would you say you have saved to 'Your Music'? An easy way to check is to select all the tracks, and add them to a temporary playlist to receive a figure.

Let me know how you're getting on/

It says 9298 Songs.

Is that a problem?

FYI:
The guy at the windows side of the community just ordered me to completely reinstall the Windows client:
https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Desktop-Linux-Windows-Web/Can-t-add-to-Your-Music/m-p/1207087

I did and it still doesn't work.

You are allowed a maximum of 3,333 offline tracks per device and a total of 10,000 tracks saved in 'Your Music'.

Whilst you're not at this limit, you are close. I wonder if you try removing a playlist can you then add another without it disappearing?

Really, just 10'000?
Does this limit also apply for premium users (which I am)?

I almost don't use offline tracks. I had one playlist with 230 tracks synchronized to my phone when I was traveling earlier this year but the synchronization was removed when I logged out & back in when trying to solve this problem.

I don't quite get what you mean with removing a playlist. Could you explain?

Regarding playlists:
I have many playlists which songs I didn't add to "Your Music". If I want to listen to them I access them via the playlist. So removing a playlist wouldn't really impact the song count in my library.

Yep, it applies to everyone I'm afraid... there has to be a limit otherwise the servers just wouldn't be able to cope. As for removing a plylist, I mean unsaving it so it's no longer in your library

Working for several years in IT and having studied Computer Science I can assure you that the servers are very well able to cope if the whole thing is designed accordingly. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I can add and remove playlists without problems.

As a workaround I actually started to store the albums that I want to keep in an unshared playlist (without adding the songs/album to "Your Music"). Therefore they don't add to my "songs" count with the limit of 10'000.

What would be interesting now is... does the system count playlists as "songs"?
Or in other words: Does the 10'000 limit maybe apply to stored "objects", including songs AND playlists?

I already found discussions about this issue all over the place, including Redit etc. but since I'm within the limit...
How can I fix this?

Should I write to Spotify Support directly? Do I need your permission? ๐Ÿ˜‰

You don't need my permission at all! ๐Ÿ™‚
