My Question or Issue

Whenever I search a song and try to play it on my Roku and Fire TV I get an error message that says "something went wrong". It doesn't occur for my liked songs and I can still see album covers/artist when I search, but I can't play the songs. How can I fix this? I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app and restarting the device.

I am seeing the same issue.
Spotify was zero help.
They said it must be my roku... all 3 of them I guess plus now yours.

Hey folks,

Welcome to the Spotify Community.

As you're both experiencing this issue with multiple devices, could you let us know if the issue persists after resetting your router or using a different internet network? You can try connecting the device to a different network like a mobile hotspot created from your phone.

Also, could you send us a screenshot of the error message? We'd like to take a closer look.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

Cheers.

I did reset the router and also tried hardwiring the cat5 cable directly into the roku.
Only when I used the search and only when I click from the "Songs" list do I see the problem.

I am able to pick from the Albums row or the Artists row or from the Playlist row.

Hi there @Maliska,

Thank you for your reply and for the screenshots.

Can you double-check so that your devices is up to date?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

All the devices are up to date.
Both the Roku version and the Spotify app version.
I had actually worked with a Spotify chat person on this issue who directed my to log and issue here because the two of us after going through these steps were not able to get either Roku device to work.
One thing to note.
I tired with my Roku TV and with 2 different external Roku devices.

Hi again @Maliska,

Thank you for getting back in touch and for your confirmation.

Can you try to log in with a different account to we can make sure it's not account related?

Keep us posted 🙂

Would that be a different Roku account or a different Spotify account?

Hey @Maliska

Not to worry. We'd suggest giving it a try using another Spotify account just to see if the issue is related to your main Spotify account.

Let us know how it goes.
