Can't stop an artist playlist playing?

I'll try to keep it short. I went onto the Spotify page for The Beatles, and just hit 'shuffle play'. After a while I wanted to listen to other things... but then I realised I couldn't stop all these Beatles songs from playing. I could pause them, but I couldn't get rid of the artist shuffle play thing, and I cannot listen to anything else.

I only downloaded it today so I'm probably missing something obvious, but hours (yes) of googling is producing nothing even vaguely related. I'd appreciate any help.

Hi. The way spotify manages the play queue can be confusing but, to cut a long story short, playing any album will clear the queue and only songs from the album will play. Strangely, playing a new playlist will not clear the queue.

Thanks for your response. Indeed, when I play another album of something else the play queue is cleared and the new set of songs play instead. But if I've got one particular song I've searched for and am trying to listen to, I can't because I'm going to have to sit through an entire album first? Maybe that's just the way Spotify is, but that's incredibly stupid.

Forgive me if I have misunderstood. Is the track u want to hear on an album? If so u don't have to listen to the whole album, just scroll to the song and tap it. If that's not what you need please say again what track u want and if it is on an album, playsuit or single, thx

Yeah, I'm just trying to listen to a particular song on an album here. Sadly, when I scroll to the song and tap it as you suggest, nothing happens, except the 'Shuffle play' button (which I don't want) starts shaking. 

If an example helps, I go to 'What's the story morning glory' (album). Then if I try to tap on a particular song, (eg, Don't look back in anger), nothing happens, just the 'shuffle play' button shakes. 

This might be because there's already a different album playing in the background (but one that I can't get rid of!). Thanks again.

This is unusual for sure. What I'd do is start by logging out and back in, maybe clear cache. If that is ineffective go through the trouble shooting steps elsewhere and try again. Those steps may do more than you want or need but should fix this. One last thing you don't have a Spotify account playing on replay on another device? That's a total longshot so stick with cache clearing and the trouble shooting steps
