Cannot cache songs via mobile

Solved!

Cannot cache songs via mobile

Hi,

My mobile data plan includes unlimited Spotify traffic via mobile (t-mobile germany). However, nowadays I'm unable to cache tracks offline on demand. The option to download via mobile is active in settings, I've reinstalled the app and cleared the cache, but no dice. It says I should switch on the option in settings, but it already is.

Any suggestions?

It's because you are using a dual sim phone with which spotify doesn't cope too well. Try switching the sim locations over and see if that helps. If not, you may need to remove one of  your sims temporarily.

Hi,

But why has this changed? Everything was fine in the past. Also the unlimited traffic is only on slot 1 and not 2, which is my work number. Has this been flagged as a bug? Is there some option to "hide" the second sim from Spotify? I'm rooted if that helps.

Kind regards

OK, I found the solution. Due to the recent update to nougat and a missing functional dual sim dialer, I had to activate "always ask" for voice calls. This seems to have tripped Spotify. Switching everything to sim 1 now allows me to download the songs while mobile.

While searching I found a thread from 2015 that reported the same behavior. So it's known at least as long.

Thanks for the heads up, Joe

As far as I know, this has always been an issue. Other users have reported that putting the data sim in slot 2 works for them. Why don't you try it - nothing else will be affected as phone numbers are hard coded into the sim cards and yu will be ble to make/receive calls as usual.

If you want to get in touch with Spotify direct, use the online contact form.

Thanks for the tip. I've just boarded a train for the next 4h and wanted to cache a playlist beforehand, so I don't want to mess with my sim slot right now. 😉

Also my phone had a problem when switching my sims around. People I called were unable to hear me talking, while I heard everything. It's most likely a software problem, but the current setup is the only working one for me.

Anyway, as stated above, your suggestion helped me. So thanks again!
