Cannot set as default player

Solved!

Cannot set as default player

Dear all,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I) with Android 6.0.1 and I cannot set Spotify as default player on device. On Spotify app itself there's no available option to set as defalt app for anything.

I tried to remove the app (and clearing cache, data, checked for files and folders) and reinstalled and I still cannot set.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, Samsung limitation (yes, they do that sometimes) or whatelse.

Can somebody give me a light on this?

As far as I know, there is no way to set Spotify as your default music app on android. I think I saw someone once say that when they removed all .mp3s from their device, "play music" did launch spotify. I haven't tried this myself but it may be worth a try.

Altrnativelythese work:

"OK Google play music on spotify" followed by "OK Google play"

"OK Google play Queen" on spotify"

"OK Google play Bohemian Rhapsody on spotify"

Probable genres etc work too.

I already tried that. Spotfy simple doesn't show as elegible for default app, even on this app that is described on link.

Is this for a bletooth connection? If so, this app should help.

It will help at somepoint.
My goal is, while I'm driving I can say "Ok Google, play music" and the system defaults to Spotify.
Not that I cannot say the samething with Spotify at end, but I think Android should allow me to set the app as system default for playing music.

This video is made for Android N, but might help you out.

No deal guys. And I don't know if this is the app that is not advertising itself as music player, some Samsung modification or a bug in Android.

There some people on web that says it's possible.
But it seems that this option needs to be added to the Spotify app itself.
I just tested on LG G3 with the same Android version and I cannot set as default too.
This indicates to me that the Spotify app is not being advertised to the system as Music Player.

Same on the Galaxy S7 Edge
