Changed download quality--will it apply to existing songs?

Hello,

I changed download quality in the Android app from Normal to High. Will this convert my previously downloaded songs to the higher quality, or will I need to re-download them?

You will have to resync them because they download in the quality that is set in your settings.

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?

No need to remove the app & re-install...

If you change the quality settings you do need to re-download the tracks though. To do this you first need to remove the entire Spotify cache by opening Spotify, tapping the menu and going to settings. Scroll to the bottom and tap the button to clear the cache.

Once done, open Spotify and log back in again. Now you just need to mark the playlists/albums you want as 'Offline' and it will start to download thes ein the preferred quality.

How do I re-sync them?

The best way would be to delete the whole app, and then reinstall it.

Then after you reinstall it, change the quality in the settings, and then resync all the songs.

this is just madness ... unacceptable for a payment service

Spotify should create a feature to ask if you want to redownload all songs in the new quality selected and also show the amount of space it will take up.

Update: I think part of this has been done with a prompt.
