My Question or Issue:

Almost everytime I listen to music the playback becomes really choppy. Everything is playing smoothly then all of a sudden the song gets really choppy. Any help? I reinstalled twice and same problem.

Hi I just wanted to add I am having the same problem .I am on an unlocked S8+ with Spotify Ptemium. I can either be offline with downloaded music or using headphones while on data/wifi and I will get choppy or distorted playback .Please fix .I'm on latest update for Spotify and have uninstalled it multiple times.

Its a relief to know that im not the only one with this problem. Im frustrated because nobody has responded to this thread and there is no one I can directly contact for answers. I'm probably going to cancel my subscription because this issue is really destroying the listening experience for me.

Can anyone from Spotify look into this please... I don't know why I am paying for Premium if I am not getting the high quality music I signed up for originally.

I have a premium family account  and I have this same problem.  I can't find a solution anywhere.  It shouldn't be my internet connection I just did a  speed test and I'm clocking in at 15 megabits/sec. Should be good for HD video even.

Also this topic has been marke as closed by Spotify even though there is no solution.  Seems like Spotify is just ignoring the issue.  Not sure why I'm paying $15/month for something that sounds like garbage.

Same problem. I have a Sony Experia XZ Premium and the problem occurs when I connect to my JBL Playlist speaker through Spotify Connect.

It's not my internet speed, because I can easily stream 4K video on my wifi. And the JBL Playlist also  supports Chromecast. It's in a Chromecast group with my amplifier and when I use that Chromecast group for playback, there is no choppiness.

same here. Android 8, Sony Xperia phone.

Yeah something about the JBLs must be causing it. I just checked with my plug in audio technicas and it plays fine.

Same problem, whether I'm on 4g in the car, in the house on WiFi or in a different country using roaming. I can't even play downloaded songs without choppy playback

Yes I am having this dropping out/choppiness too. I've tried several things suggested online including uninstalling and reinstalling. There seems to be no support from Spotify that I can find so I am looking to find another streaming app. It seems that there are quite a few people in the same boat and I object to paying for something I'm not getting.

I'm a normal free account who is also having this same issue. It extends to music and podcasts, which is frustrating when I'm trying to listen to Spotify exclusives.

Hey folks,

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here!

If you're experiencing interruptions in playback, we recommend that you try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Clearing the cache in the app Settings
  • Making sure you have a good internet connection (try a different one if possible)
  • Deleting and reinstalling the app (these steps here are more thorough and ensure that no leftover files remain )
  • Rebooting your device (turning it off and back on again after the reinstall)

If that doesn't fix things, could you let us know if you experience these issues also on other devices and in our web player? It would also help us to identify whats causing this if share the network types you've tried - 3G /4G/5G/ WiFi or a combination of those.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on your progress.

I've tried all of the suggested, but it doesn't occur with your web player on my computer

Hey there @Beefleece,

Thanks for your reply!

Could you tell us if you experience playback issues on all of your other devices or just on a specific one?

We'd also like to know if you can try logging in with a friend's account on your other device and see if the playback issue occurs again.

We'll be on the lookout to your answer.
