Currently travelling, Spotify deleted all offline tracks

Currently travelling, Spotify deleted all offline tracks

I have about 1200 offline songs that were deleted today. I've been travelling for 2 weeks in South Africa from Canada and have been using spotfiy daily. Today when I opened the app it required me to connect to the internet to login and then began re-downloading all my offline music (the previous copies are not available). I don't have the connectivity to allow it to proceed (I'm using cell networks in a very rural area) why did this happen and how can I prevent it from happening again?

That sucks.

Many people are reporting random and mysterious deletion of downloaded music.

Has happened to me several times; last time was a month ago when all of my albums disappeared overnight (1000+ tracks), but my playlists (including album tracks in those playlists) were left untouched.

I think that Spotify has a rule whereby you are required to log in to your account at least once per month to maintain downloaded material on your device.  Possibly this is the cause in your case?

However, it certainly was not the reason when I lost my tracks, so there is clearly some some bug does exist in the Spotify app, possibly due to time tracking (since last log-in).
