Daily Mixes - same songs recurring endlessly

Daily Mixes - same songs recurring endlessly

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to Spotify Premium and have been enjoying the Daily Mixes.  But I increasingly find that the same songs recur endlessly.  It's even worse if I have "liked" a song, then it comes up even more often.

Is there an option to exclude songs which have already appeared in a Daily Mix previously?  Or to exclude "liked" songs?  Given that Spotify has an effectively endless supply of music, it is ridiculous that I am being fed the same few dozen songs over and over again.

Simon.

Six months on and this issue still ruins my Spotify experience.  I've done a fair bit of research into it, and spoken with Spotify technical support, and there seems to be no solution.

For example, my Daily Mix 1 is mostly composed of songs which were in yesterday's Daily Mix 1, most of which were in the day before yesterday's Daily Mix 1, and so on.  A number of songs, which I have never given any indication that I like, have seemingly been selected at random to be replayed day after day ad nauseam.  It drives me mad.  If, as some people seem to think, that is the intended function of the Daily Mixes, then my response is that it is stupid.

This is made even worse by the fact that (a) the "hide" button doesn't work when playing through Spotify Connect, i.e. if I scan through my Daily Mix before playing it, and hide any tracks I want to skip, they play anyway, and (b) if I hide a track from a Daily Mix today, more often than not it will reappear, unhidden, tomorrow.  Doesn't the fact that I've hidden a song today indicate that perhaps I might not want to hear it tomorrow either?!

I could perhaps put up with the repetitive nature of the Daily Mixes if I had the ability to block songs when I'd heard them enough times.  But I can't understand why Spotify apparently think that such basic functionality as the ability to permanently block a song is surplus to requirements.  After all, I can permanently "like" a song - why the difference in functionality between liking and disliking a song?

I've cancelled my Premium subscription and am actively looking for an alternative music streaming service.

Just replying here because this issue still persists 4 years later... Will cancel Premium as well
