My Question or Issue

So I've been using Spotify for a few months. I built myself a playlist that I listen to regularly. Starting a couple of days ago there appears to be random songs not on my playlist being played while I'm listening to it. About half the songs played are not on my playlist at all. And this only happens on my phone, not on my Windows version of the app. I listened to exactly the same playlist on my computer for a couple of hours and no song not on the playlist was played at all.

I understand that I am using the free service, but I put up with the ads for that reason. I assume Spotify makes enough money from the ads to cover the music I actually want to listen to. I don't want ads and random songs I don't like or care about when I'm trying to listen to my playlist.

Until this is fixed, I just don't want to use your service any more. So no ad revenue.

I might have put up with it if not for the absolutely awful mobiles.co.uk (or whatever it is) advert that literally makes me take my earbuds out because it is so obnoxious (meaning that I don't listen to the other ads playing, bad for the people paying for air time, right?) Or the fact that, in the very same ad break, I might get the same ad played 2-3 times in a row. Luckily it hasn't happened with the obnoxious one yet.

Here is a brief rundown of two services Spotify services you mentioned.

Spotify Free:

  • Over 80 million songs
  • Pick and play any track on mobile (available on select playlists, Rap Caviar, Daily Mix Etc.)
  • Ad-supported music
  • Limited skips
  • No offline downloads
  • Standard music quality

Spotify Premium:

I currently use the free service on iPad, its closer to the Desktop experience.
