My Question or Issue

Hi, I'm having troubles with using dowloaded musics on Spotify Android. I use my account on 3 devices on which I download musics on the SD card. All the devices are using diffrent SD cards but all as internal storage as proposed by Android.

Several times I lost my downloaded musics on the SD card. But the space alloued to the musics is still active as shown in the parameters of the phone. But I can't see any downloaded music and in the parameters of Spotify It only shows the internal storage despite my SD card is working perfekly fine. I haven't spend 30 days without connecting the phones to internet. Maybe It's caused by updates of the application ? I'm forced to reinstall completely the application after deleting all its datas and then download my musics again.

I'm disappointed as my trial period isn't over and I had downloaded more than 3 times all my library which is like 20 Go each time...
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello @Lomi_Bond!

I’d recommend checking out the “Downloads unexpectedly removed” section of the “Listen offline troubleshooting” support article for some more help with this.

If the article doesn't help I recommend keeping your app updated with a clean reinstall and avoiding any cache-clearing apps.

Hope this helps! Make sure to ask any other questions, I'll be happy to help.

Cheers, Jose 🙂

Hello and thanks for your ansewer.

Of course I read that support article but I'm not in theses cases so I don't understand why my music is not recongnize anymore.

I can reinstall the application again and download my music again, that's what I did now 3 times in 1 month so It's starting to be a little bit boring... 🙂

Sorry to hear it's still mot working!

Can you let me know:
- Does the same thing happen on the web player, or a different device?

- Do your account's country settings match your current location? It's worth checking this out, just in case.

- Also, are you using a VPN? If so it's possible this could be interfering with things.

Also, can you try these steps? That might help:

1. Delete downloaded songs

2. Go to device storage/android/data -> move com.spotify.music to Sd memory card /android/data (It might already be there I'd just overwrite it, just in case)

3. Download your songs again.

Keep me posted, I'll be happy to help.
Cheers, Jose 🙂

Hi,

This happend on the Android application on at least 2 diffrent devices. It can't happend on th web player as you can't download music in the web player.

I just checked my country in my profile, it's FR as I'm most of the time in France.

None of my devices is using a VPN.

I'll try to move the folder as you suggested and download for the third time all my library and then let you know if it happend again in a few days.

Thanks anyway for your help and have a nice day 🙂

No worries, I hope that works. Have a nice day, too.

Cheers, Jose 🙂

One way that has worked for me - please bear in mind this involves losing all data on the SD though:

  1. Clear Data and Uninstall Spotify.
  2. Format your SD card as external storage then eject it from your phone.
  3. Reinstall Spotify, sign in and then download a few playlists.
  4. When the playlists are downloaded, put the SD card back in your phone and format it as internal. When the phone has finished formatting, an option should come up to migrate data to the SD, accept this.
  5. When data is migrated, go into Spotify and download everything else you want. It should all be saved on your SD even though it may not seem that way.

Hope this helps!

Alex

That can also be a good way to solve that problem. I hope that helps and thanks for sharing with us!

Cheers, Jose 🙂

Dont Swap Thema SD Card from one to another device.

Andere dont delete The spotify app. Evers time you so this you have to donwnlad The Music again.

Hi,

Thanks for all your responses.

Of course I don't swap the SD card from one to other device. Each device has its own SD card which always stays inserted.

What I did this time is :

-Unistalling Spotify (which isn't reconizing anymore my SD card and any downloaded music)

-Installing Spotify again (It recognized my SD card and shows 17 Go of cache music)

-Downloading musics (It recognized cache music and switch these to real download quite instantly without downloading anything)

So for now it's working well, hope this won't happend again. Thanks to everybody who tried to help me there 😉

I'll let you know what's up in a few days.

I'm glad it's working! I hope it's solved. Good luck and keep me posted 🙂
