Equalizer glitch - loud to soft!

Equalizer glitch - loud to soft!

This was discussed here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/Equalizer-glitch-loud-to-soft/m-p/4436186

But the topic was closed?! So, I have to reopen it again.

Android Spotify has this glitch for about last 2 months, that when song starts playing it almost blows up my speakers and then it quiets down, due to used equalizer. Something was updated with the equalizer, because with the newest version the playback became way quieter. Unfortunately as most updates of this app, it only comes with isues and zero testing before publishing.

As far as I understand this will never be fixed, because it now also shows an alert to not use equalizer if it causes issues.

Is it possible to downgrade to older version of Spotify, where it was perfectly working?
I was using Spotify for last 2 years and it worked, so I don't understand wth happened.
I'm currently on version 9.0.2459

Hey @martin887,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

At the moment, it's not possible to downgrade the app to previous versions. So, to start investigating this behavior, would you mind confirming if you've tried to perform a clean reinstall of your app? If not, we'd recommend following the steps mentioned in this article.

If so, and the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device to continue checking on it.

We'll be waiting for your response.

I appreciate your reply, I know I'm little upset.

It was clean install on Android 10 (car tablet).

I solved it today by installing XEQ Equalizer and turning off the Spotify EQ.

It's arguably even better than the Spotify EQ, but the Spotify EQ seems very clean in sound if it wouldn't have the loud bursts on start of every song.

However, I think I can call this a solution 👍

Hey @martin887,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

We're glad to know that everything is working fine now with the new XEQ. We appreciate the time you took following the process and sharing what works for you. Hopefully, this tip will help other users too.

In case you need anything else, remember that we're just a post away.

Cheers!
