Free spotify on wifi only tablets

Free spotify on wifi only tablets

I turned my parents on to Spotify and they love it. They are using an old laptop to listen at home. They need a new device to check email, surf the web, listen to Spotify, etc. I believe a tablet would be their best bet, however if I buy them an Android or iPad tablet, they lose Spotify (except radio mode). Why do I need to purchase a Windows tablet/pc to use free Spotify instead of an Android tablet? If they are both wifi only what's the difference? With the tablet market rapidly replacing the clam shell laptop, this should be a consideration. Remember, wifi only is the same whether it is a "laptop" or a tablet.

Thank you

The difference is operating system though.

Mobile operating systems that run on tablets, such as android iOS and Windows RT are exactly that, mobile. That is why Spotify (at current) requires you to have premium for those devices. In the past, Spotify have also said that they class anything without an ethernet port to be a mobile device, which I guess holds true (mostly excluding ultrabooks) for the current device classifications.

There is an ideas topic here which suggests that tablets connected to WiFi should be able to use Spotify on WiFi with an unlimited rather than premium subscription, so if you like that idea you should add your kudos and comments there.
