My Question or Issue

My Spotify on phone is having this issue (its always had it, but its just finally started to really annoy me)

Basically Gapless playback works perfectly fine on all my songs on both my computers, and sounds great, but when I use Spotify on my phone only songs in specific albums work with it.

For example, Runnin to Glock In My Lap is great on my phone and also computers (because its in an album) but Kamikaze to Faucet Failure which sounds great as a transition on my PC, has a short gap between them, even though the song already loads, its like it pauses at the very start

I've tried to change literally every setting, the only solution I found was to add crossfade but it sounds really bad, seen other people having this issue and its unsolved so I'm curious, any help appreciated

Below is how its supposed to sound and how it works on my PC

Hey @josphobic,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

The feature that's causing the smooth transitions between the tracks in your playlist on the desktop app is actually Crossfade. Crossfade overlaps two songs together by fading out of the first while fading in the next, so try toggling in on for your mobile device as well and set the desired amount - that should do the trick.

Gapless playback works in a similar, but slightly different way: it removes any gaps of silence between the tracks and its transitions are best observed when listening to an album, like you mentioned.

More info on track transitions here.

Hope this clears things up. The Community is always here if there's anything else you need assistance with.

Cheers!

theres a reason I said that, the crossfade makes the transition not sound proper, and it works perfectly fine on my computer without crossfade, just not on my phone.

Hey again @josphobic,

I tried reproducing this on my end by adding these two songs in a playlist on the desktop app, but the transition wasn't as smooth as on the video you've attached - there was a very short, but audible pause between the tracks. I checked my app's settings and I had Crossfade toggled off, so I toggled it on, set it to 0 and played the tracks again - now the transition was exactly as you showcased in your screen recording.

The thing is, the mobile app's Crossfade cannot be set to 0: it's either Off or 1 sec. This would be useful to have though, so I recommend posting an idea about it on our Ideas Exchange board. Others can then show their support by giving it a thumbs up and sharing their feedback. More info here.

Hope this clears things up. The Community's always here if anything else comes up in the meantime.

Take care.
