My Question or Issue
Hello,
So my account as been hacked left and right and they had to re-set my subscription with consequent loss of downloaded songs. In reading other topics it was mentioned that re-downloading such songs would re-establish the missing link between my new account and the previously downloaded songs. Now that doesn't seem to be the case as each time I download I had already downloaded they take up more space. Also before having my account I had been using other people's accounts on my cell phone so I had already other songs downloaded that I eventually lost when I switched accounts. Is there a way to get rid of those previously downloaded songs or to have spotify to recognise them?
Thanks.
Hi there!
I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? Sorry if this may sound a bit repetitive but if that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app by following these steps.
Make sure Spotify is up to date. I'd also recommend using the Sign Out Everywhere and Remove Offline devices from your Spotify account page to see if that helps ๐
If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?
I'll see what I can suggest next!
Do you mean that after these steps the the missing link between my new account and the previously downloaded songs would be created or those are just attempts?
I've definitely restarted my device but I haven't done a clean reinstall of spotify yet.
My OS: Android 7.0 NRD90M
Spotify version: 8.4.88.150
Hey @moto1860,
Thanks for letting me know ๐
It's never 100% but those are troubleshooting steps to take when you're having issues.
Were those downloaded songs local files added from your desktop Spotify app or simply downloaded from a playlist?
Thanks!
Songs were downloaded from the Spotify app on my cell Redmi Note 4 cell phone.
No, I never downloaded them from the desktop app.
Hey @moto1860,
If they were simply songs you had on a playlist just go to that playlist and enable the download option then wait for them to download and have them ready for offline listening.
Here's some more info on using the Download option in your Spotify app.
Hope it helps ๐
Ehm... I feel we are not understanding each other here; the issue is not how to download the songs again but how to avoid them taking up space that was already used to download them before the hacking.
Hey @moto1860,
Thanks for clarifying that ๐
I'd also recommend using the Sign Out Everywhere and Remove Offline devices from your Spotify account page to see if you havenโt tried already.
Could you also try to clean the chache partition?
Let me know how it goes ๐
