Headphone issues with HTC One M8

After the latest version update of Spotify, I've been experiencing issues with my headphones. When the headphones are plugged in, the music is played through the speakers until I unplug and replug it. Plus, the control button on the headphones is not working anymore, I cannot stop or skip the song using the control button only. Any ideas how to fix these? Thanks so much in advance!

That's strange @ecebuda, the latest release seems to have fixed this issue for others. Can you just confirm your android version and spotify version? Thanks.
