High battery drain in network where Spotify is blocked (and the app running on background)

Hello,

I live in Finland where the state-run railway company (VR) recently blocked Spotify and other music and video streaming services from their on board Wi-Fi. (Apparently because of the high bandwith usage they cause.) While travelling by train I noticed that my Android tablet's battery drained four times faster than normally. I happen to have this battery monitoring app on the tablet which showed that apps were draining a lot of battery, and Spotify was on top of that list of applications. I had used Spotify prior to stepping on the train and it was running on the backround. The battery drain seemed to continue after leaving the influence of the train's on board Wi-Fi until force closing Spotify, which seemed to solve the issue. Is this possibly a bug where Spotify for Android tries to reconnect indefinitely if connection cannot be established?
