My Question or Issue

Does anyone know how to get different fonts to work in the titles of playlists?

I have seen them on other people's playlists, and I have tried to copy (from a word document that I have it saved on) and paste it to the title field, on both my phone and computer, but it just pastes in the regular font. I have even converted the document to a pdf document, then copied and pasted it, but it still doesn't work.

It's recognized in Word, on my computer. It shows up in the fonts section.

Hey there @MadmanOnWheels,

Thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community. We're happy to help.

It sounds like the formatting of the font used in Word isn't retained when pasting it in the app. If possible, you could give it a go trying with a different method. For example an online font editor for social media since that might retain the style over to the app when editing your playlist.

Hey, Jeremy

Thanks. I just tried what pulled up, when I searched for "online font editor for social media", but none of that worked. I can't upload the font on those sites, to even copy them from there. It's a particular font that I downloaded, a while back. I think I had to get it out of a zipped folder or something, which I had to look up how to do. Then I found out how to upload it as a useable font in Word. When I pull up the document anywhere else, but my computer, it doesn't show the text in that font, unless (from my computer) I saved it as a pdf. Even copying the text from that document, it won't paste in the same font.

Do you or anyone else have any other ideas on how to make it work?

Hey @MadmanOnWheels,

Thanks for keeping in touch.

That might not work with any font you try to use. However, I just tried copying the text from this site into my playlist and it worked. You can give it a try there or maybe look for some other similar sites.

If you find any other, feel free to share them with us.

We'll be right here in case you have any questions or need a hand with anything else.

Cheers 🙂

Hey, Carlos

Thanks, but I've already been there, and I already tried to paste the front in the field, there. I'm not looking for just any font. I'm looking for a particular font. It's from here. I don't care about any other fonts, right now.

I got it from here.

Hi @MadmanOnWheels

Thanks for getting back to us.

Keep in mind that Spotify doesn't have an option to change fonts, so you might won't be able to add a particular font at the moment.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us and will make sure to pass it onto the right team, as we always strive to improve your experience.

You can also have a look in our Idea Exchange to see if someone else has already made a similar suggestion. If there isn't one, you can give these steps a go and submit your idea so that other users can also support it. The higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for it to be implemented.

If anything else comes up, we'll be right here.

Cheers!

Hi, Novy

I never stated that Spotify had the option to change fonts. I mentioned that someone has used different fonts on his or her playlist titles. It's obviously possible. I'm just wondering how to do it, with the font that I want. There shouldn't be a difference in copying one font, then it pasting in the same format, as another font doing it.

Here's a playlist with a custom font.

If anyone does have any idea of how to do it, please let me know. I don't need responses about how it can't be done. I see that it had been done.

Hey, Harry

No. I want to be able to use a particular font that I downloaded from a band fan site. I'm even able to use in Microsoft Word. Someone told me about that site, already, but I appreciate it, anyway.

Hey @MadmanOnWheels,

What you are trying to do is not possible. There's a difference between a font and special characters which is important to understand. Special characters will almost always look the same regardless of what font is applied to them, where regular letters will change depending on the font that you apply to them, like in Word. Special characters are letters from foreign alphabets, or symbols, for example.

The playlist with the custom font that you've shown above does not actually have a custom font for its title. Instead, the creator probably used a similar online font editor website as has already been linked to above. These sites will find special characters (for example, from foreign alphabets) that look like English alphabet letters. So the playlist creator copied over these special characters to the playlist name which makes it look like the font has changed, where in reality the letters are all special characters. Any normal text (in the regular English alphabet), when copied into the playlist name box, will always be shown in Spotify's custom font. This cannot be changed.

So for you the only way to customise the font is by using one of these websites and finding the closest match, but it won't be possible to use any font file.

Hope that helps.

thank you so much ive been trying to figure this stuff out for so long and this site you linked worked.

Lots of suggestions here regarding fonts. There is however difference between regular fonts and special characters by Unicode which are called Glyphs. Glyphs are not real fonts but a mere representation of regular fonts (basically lookalikes). If you want to use fancy fonts for instagram there are lots of websites online where you can generate fancy text.

I am using such a website to generate cool fonts. You can generate awesome fonts from here for your use.
