My Question or Issue

How can I access local songs that I have downloaded on my phone? I have a bunch of songs downloaded that I used to be able to access through Google Play Music without a hitch. Since I switched, though, I haven't been able to play those songs and all of the support articles I've seen only talk about how to access local files stored on my PC. Is there a way I could play these songs without having to copy them onto my PC and going through that process? I know YouTube Music and GPM are able to play local files on my mobile natively, so if there's no simple solution I may just switch over.

Hey there @taroii,

Thank you for your post here in the Community.

You need to import the local files to your desktop app.

You can follow these steps:

  1. On desktop, import your local files (with the "Desktop" steps).
  2. Add the files to a new playlist.
  3. Log in on your mobile or tablet using the same Wi-Fi as your desktop.
  4. Download the playlist with your local files.

If you have any questions we're always one reply away 🙂

Cheers!
