How can I stop Spotify from auto-starting when I connect headphones

Every time I connect my headphones, Spotify launches and takes over. Even if my phone is ringing at the time and I'm trying to answer a call, I have to go stop Spotify first. I should be able to connect devices without some app automatically taking over my phone.

This is an odd behavior as Spotify shouldn't be launching by itself when you connect your headphones. In this case, as this could be related to some damaged cache stored on your device that may be affecting the proper behavior of the app, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This process will replace damaged files and ensure you're running the latest version of the app.

 

If the issue persists, would you mind confirming if the app was opened in the background when this happens? If so, could you close it completely and try again to see if it makes any difference?

 

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
