How do I add a friend on the new Android app

Hi - if someone shares a track or playlist is there any way of adding them to my friends list just using the app on my phone.

Just got this premium app. Apparently you can't add a user that isn't connected to a Facebook account, thereby being automatically pulled in by the app connection. I could be wrong, and I really hope so, but through the Android app it appears within my first once over that you can't simply add non-facebook users. I'm guessing you have to download the app on a desktop machine and add your non-facebook linked friends there.

I have the same problem. Apparently it is impossible to add new friends from the android app. Furthermore, the friends and list of people I follow in my computer does not match with the list on my android app. On top of that, I can't share songs with someone I have recently begun to follow. It just does not appear in the autocomplete tab that usually appears when you send a song to someone within spotify. This is really annoying me.
