My Question or Issue

How do I turn off Connect?  My laptop is connected via BT to my speaker, and that's what I want it to play on.  But when I leave the house with my phone and come home, it starts playing on my phone, even if I'm controlling on pc.  I don't want spotify running on my phone when I'm in my office.  This is maddening.

Hi there @Whynotme1,

Thanks for reaching out. There isn't a way to turn off Connect completely but we'll be glad to help you with this issue.

Playback has to be manually started from a device, either by playing from it or by selecting it from the Connect list from a different device. If you were playing on your phone and the PC was on during that time, Connect will sync up and if you then press play on the PC with both apps open, it will most likely continue on the previous device. In that case, you have to use the Connect list to switch the main device. Try doing so and see if everything works as expected. Also, to avoid the PC taking over playback, just leave it off or at least leave the Spotify app closed when you're not using it. Then, it won't appear in the Connect list.

Hope this clears things up.
