I can't add nor find the spotify playlist widget, what can I do?

As far as I know, you can find the 'Add to HomeScreen' feature once you tap the three dots next to a playlist, I don't have that feature, what can I do?

Hey @Yoshiwings,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

We check with internal teams all the details you shared with us and we can confirm that the option was available on Android devices, but unfortunately it's no longer available.

Taking this into account, the shortcuts you already have on your home screen may stop working in the future. We appreciate your feedback regarding this feature and for the time you took reporting this.

If you think other users would like this feature to come back too, we'd recommend posting it on our Ideas Exchange board, so it can be voted on and reach the relevant teams. Keep in mind our guidelines to avoid any rejection.

If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hey there,

Can you let us know what device you're using. It would be great if you share your device model, OS version and Spotify version.

Also a screenshot of how the 3-dot menu looks on your end.

Cheers.

I am having the same issue where the add to homescreen option is no longer showing

. Using a Samsung Galaxy S20, app version 8.7.78.374 and my menu is attached.

Hey @Yoshiwings,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

We think it could be a misunderstanding about this, we apologize if this caused any inconveniences. This option is not currently available for playlists; however, you can add an album to the home screen. To do so, just open Spotify app, tap the album you want and hit the 3-dot menu. Over there, select the option "Add to home screen".

As an alternative to this function, we have a new feature that gives you the ability to pin up to 4 items to the top of Your Library. These items can be playlists, playlist folders, albums, artists, or podcasts.

Lastly, if you feel other users would like this feature as well, if there's no other existing idea, we'd recommend posting it on our Idea Exchange board so it can be voted on and reach the relevant teams. Keep in mind our Guidelines before posting it to avoid any rejection.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.

This feature has previously been available for playlists, as I currently
have 5 of them on my homescreen. Is this something that was recently
changed?

Hey @Yoshiwings,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

In this case, to continue investigating this case, would you mind sending some screenshots where we can see the playlists you have on your home screen and the options you currently have on the 3-dot menu of the playlist?

Also, it would be great if you could include in your next response how long you notice this change and if it was after and OS or app update. This will give us a better look at the issue.

We'll be on the lookout.

I noticed the change within the last month or so, as I just added a
playlist (my playlist #4) to my home screen a few weeks ago. Attached is a
screenshot of the playlists on my home screen, as well as one of my current
options for one of those playlists.

I can't be sure if it was the newest Spotify update that caused this.

Same here, please help!

To add a playlists to your Home Screen:

Play the playlist so it that it is in your "Recently Played"

Slow press the Spotify app launch button.

Then a list of Recently Played playlist appears, Slow press the playlist you want to add to the Home Screen.

Sweet!!!

At some point, I was able to add a playlist to my home screen, not sure if via "widgets" or "add to home screen" using the hamburger menu. Today I don't find it anymore.

Hey @dfercastro,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

The ability to add playlists to your device's home screen has been recently deprecated. This is why you can't find it anymore.

Hope this clears things a bit,

Cheers!

Could someone from Spotify at least explain why this was deprecated? All I want is to be able to start my favorite playlist on shuffle with a single click from my home screen. The iOS widgets are only for recently played, adding playlists to your Home Screen has been deprecated, and iOS Shortcut support has STILL not arrived after 5 years. Does Spotify even really want people to use their service???

This really effing sucks wth
