My Question or Issue

Hi,

I can't connect the Sonos speakers via Spotify Connect, they simple don't show up in the list of devices.

However, they can connect and play without problems when started from the Sonos app. I'd like to listen via the Spotify App though, as there are some features (e.g. like/dislike songs) I can't access via the Sonos player.

Hi there @DeckardCain2014,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

We'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the app on your Phone. This includes clearing all app cache, which can sometimes cause issues. Follow the device specific steps from this Spotify Guide.

If that doesn't make a difference and you still can't see the Sonos devices on your phone's Spotify Connect, make sure you're logged in with the same account.

Let us know how you get on with this.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply!

Hi,

I did a clean reinstall including clearing the cache. I have ensured I'm
logged in in both apps to Spotify.
What can I do next?

Hi @DeckardCain2014,

Thanks for the quick reply.

There are a few other things that could be causing your speakers to not appear in the Connect tab.

First make sure your speakers' firmware is up to date by going into More > Settings > System Updates > Check for Updates.

Restart your router and reconnect all your devices to the network. You can also switch off the setting Show local devices only from the Spotify app's settings menu.

If this doesn't help, can you try using connect from another device like a PC or the Web player and let us know if you can see the speakers from there.

Cheers.

- Yes, the firmware is up to date.
- Yes, I tried to restart the router and all network relevant devices.
- Yes, all devices, not only locals, should show up
- Also, a Fire HD Tablet, a Windows laptop and an iPad can't use Spotify
Connect to Sonos speakers. Only the Amazon Echo speakers show up.

Hi again @DeckardCain2014,

Thanks for the detailed info.

Have you also tried logging in with a different account and see if the Sonos speakers appear there?

Yes, it is connected to two accounts, no success there.

Hey @DeckardCain2014,

Can you clarify what you mean with 'it is connected to two accounts'?

What we wanted to see was if you log in with another account like a new free account if it comes up in the list of Connect devices.

Cheers.

The Sonos system is linked to two accounts, mine and my girlfriend's. On
both our devices (and accounts) the Sonos speakers don't show up in the
list of Spotify Connect

Hey @DeckardCain2014,

Thanks for the clarification.

If the speaker doesn't show up on two separate devices with two separate accounts, I'd suggest trying to factory reset it and then link your accounts back to it again.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

I'm sorry, but that didn't work either...

Hey @DeckardCain2014,

Thanks for the reply and going through this troubleshooting process wit us.

Some Sonos speakers can be connected to the network via ethernet cable. If yours supports this feature, can you try it out and say what happens if you connect the speaker like that, so we can see if it might be a Wi-Fi issue.

Cheers.

Same happening here. It started couple days ago, before that it was working normally.

On my  Sonos also two account are registered. At the begining it started to happen for my account and today it does not show up in both our accounts/phones.

I have also check LAN suggestion. Sonos was not listed in webplayer either even my chromebook was on wire.

Yesterday I have managed to workaround by starting playing in Sonos app, then speakers have appeared in Spotify app. This is not working today anymore.

However I managed to find new workaround:

Start playing Spotify on Sonos using google assist, then Sonos appears in Spotify app again.
