Device
Motorola x4 - brand new
12 gb free internal 60+ gb free sd
Operating System
Android Oreo - updated to latest
What I've tried:
Deleting cache, deleting data, deleting both, deleting them in different order
Clean Re-install
Formatted SD card both with my CPU and phone
Deleting all files before Re-install
Restarting phone between all previous tasks
Ensuring all permission granted after install before use and logging in
Deleting all devices on Spotify.com that can use data offline
Installing an app that fills the internal memory only leaving 1 or 2 gigs of storage (i've tried leaving different amounts in internal storage)
Scouring the internet for possible fixes and seeing tons of other people with the same problem....
I've been able to get the phone to do clean install and it will automatically try to store to SD card, but then at some point will just freeze, then when I restart, no songs have been downloaded and there is no option to choose SD card as storage point.
I've been working on this problem for days....
I had so many problems just like this with my LG G3, I had to root it so I could put the APK on the SD card and finally got around this, but don't want to have to root my new device just to get Spotify to work!
Anyone have any new suggestions?
So last thing I've tried is to download to my internal memory. I get it close to maxing out my internal memory, then move everything to SD card, so that works for a minute. Then I try to finish downloading more of the library I want offline, and it works for a while then stops downloading saying I have no room left even though i'm up to 12 gb on an otherwise empty 64 gb SD card. So I restart my device, then it will download for a while, then it will error again, then all my downloaded music is gone! The SD card still shows that there is data on it equal to what was downloaded but it won't let me access it. And now I'm at sqaure one with no access to any saved music.
I have had the same issue for ages (Moto g4 Plus). Tried everything.
At the moment I am in the middle of a test.
Settings/about phone/tap 5 times on build number to enable developer options
Settings/developer options/force allow apps on external
Settings/apps/Spotify/storage/change to external
The app moved, was lagging a bit but seems to rectified itself, now downloading to external automatically because it's already there.
I will keep you updated on my progress.
the same thing, my sd card has been reformated so many times. It still works in my camera and on my back up flip-phone so what's going on here? I'm paying money for this and it's not working
So far this has worked.
To start with it wouldn't save the downloaded files but I deleted the app, deleted the file containing any left over data from the SD card by going to settings/storage/internal storage/explore/android/find the Spotify file and delete, then reinstalled the app (it automatically went to the SD card this time!).
I broke down and decided to go ahead and buy a new sd card even though I'm pretty sure my 64gb is fine, I got a 128gb with fasting rating possible. I then went through the process of deleting cache, data, plugging into cpu, finding all related files and deleting. Re-downloaded Spotify and the storage option works letting me move and store to SD card. Overall it works better, but I was just out of signal/wifi range for about a week and about 4 of my saved playlists suddenly showed up in grey and had songs that wouldn't play, I decided to restart my phone and everything dissapeard, all downloaded music.... gone. I'm so tired of this software, it's the god danged worst.
I tried the same thing and yet it won't work for me, i i llowed your routing but the button to shift it to external memory is not there, do i have to format it as internally shared or is there another option i have to enable?
