Local files won't play, receiving "The track is not available" message on Android phone.

Local files won't play, receiving "The track is not available" message on Android phone.

It's worked fine before! I've never had this issue until now. My local files will not play on my mobile phone, no matter what I do and how hard I try. Local files that I had downloaded before worked fine, and then I went and cleared the cache on my phone and uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify to see if that would help, yet it only made it worse. Now all of my local files are not playing. I've rebooted my phone. I've checked my WiFi.

The tracks play fine on my laptop. They're MP3 files, so it has nothing to do with iTunes or anything like that. All mentions of this problem on other threads are from last year. I've tried all that's been suggested. Please help!

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

Have you synced those local files from your computer to your phone after clearing your cache by following the steps in this post

If you are having trouble getting your device to appear in Spotify, try running the client as Administrator on Windows and disabling any firewall or security software you have.

Same here my local files weren't playing correctly and so I uninstalled spotifuggle. I am on the same WiFi and followed all the steps and my device doesn't appear "Devices". I am receiving the same message. I am an Admin on Windows and my firewall never had any effect on it before. It just all of sudden stopped working today. It was showing up yesterday. Never had this problem on my iPod.

It still appears to make a difference, can you try right clicking on the desktop application and selecting "Run as Admin"?

Just incase Windows have been messing with the firewall during updates, you might want to make sure the following ports/IP addresses are open:

You can also allow the IP range and ports that Spotify is using in your firewall or router: Open the firewall for 78.31.8.0/21 and open port 4070 for TCP as well as port 80 for TCP.

There are some reports of the steps in this post working too.

I may be wrong but as a work around you can try this, reset your memory to its factory setting or back everything up with a software like kies or other means such as my phone exploerer, then through the recovery mode of your phone you can clear the cache and do a factory reset. if rooted you can do it through cwm menu. I know its tedious and tiresome to reinstall everything from scratch but this may be a fix.

Here is a how to perform such a task.
hope to solve your problem.
