My Question or Issue

Been having several issues with local files. The first is that they at first appear to download and are playable, but then after a period of time, certain tracks become greyed out and unplayable. The other issue is that I have my downloads set to save in my SD card, and they do initially, but after what I believe is the same period of time, my local files (and as far as I can tell only my local files) will move to phone storage. In addition, the files that are greyed out are still on my phone; I'm just unable to play them on Spotify. I've done a clean reinstall two or three times, and tried with various amounts of local files, ranging from just the ones in a few playlists to my entire library of local files. No matter what I do I'm having these issues.

Hey @alancunningham3,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

As corrupted cache on the SD-card can cause different issues with Spotify's performance I recommend removing it and then giving the app a clean reinstall once again with the steps here

After that, please follow the steps in this article in order to sync and add the local files once again, but without the SD-card in your phone this time to see if that'll change anything. Also, if it's possible try with a different Internet connection and make sure it's a stable one.

Keep us posted and we're here if anything else comes up 🙂

Thank you, this appears to have solved the issue as I did this yesterday and it appears to have solved the issue of the files disappearing (hard to tell whether it'll stay that way but they've usually disappeared by this point). Would formatting my SD card or using a different one let me store these files on an SD card?

Hi @alancunningham3,

Glad to hear the main issue has been resolved! As for storing your local files on your SD card, I'd recommend checking out this thread, where several users have suggested their workarounds, so feel free to give them a try to see if they do the trick for you 🙂

The Community is always here if there's anything else you need assistance with. Cheers!
