Locally Imported Files Greyed Out, Unable to listen, Downloaded and greyed out.

Hi All.

I understand that a few of you had reported issues with accessing local files on your computer and other devices such as Android and Apple.

I was having the same issue and I seem to have solved the problem...I could see a few of you were annoyed with Spotify because of this, so here are the steps that may resolve the issue.

Carry out the following, you may not need all the fixes but these are the ones I tried, in no particular order and finally fixed it, I am using a Windows Laptop if that helps anyone.

1. Check that the firewall is not blocking inbound and outbound connections from Spotify

This can be amended by accessing the following:

Control Panel (Windows 10 users can use the word ‘Firewall’ and this will navigate to the location> Windows Defender Firewall > Monitoring > Scroll down > Locate Spotify > Tick ‘Private’ and ‘Public’

options.

2. Re-install Spotify, by doing this, it will also prompt you to make the changes via a dialogue box, the same way we did previous (see above) ensure that both boxes are ticked again ‘Public and Private’

**This fixed my issues**

3. I accessed my Spotify account via the desktop deleted my troublesome playlist as I am sure a few of you have also done out of frustration. Restore the playlist as mentioned and re-download.

Follow the following, if unsure:

Spotify App > Account > Launches web based > Scroll Down > Recover Playlist > Close web browser > Close Spotify App > Re-launch

Sorry it’s a lengthy post, I hope this has resolved the issue for you guys. Best of luck all.
