Locking phone crashes app if minimized

My Question or Issue

It's as simple as the subject describes. If I hace anything open (other apps, home screen, etc.) other than the Spotify app when I lock my screen, Spotify completely crashes and media controls cannot resume media until I unlock my phone and re-open Spotify again. This is an issue that's only just started today and I'm wondering if there's any suggestions any has as this is quite inconvenient. Thank you.

Let's try clearing your cached data to see if that makes a difference.
If this doesn't help - log out of & back in the app twice in a row. This will force a manual sync of your data.
And, in case the issue persists after that - you may also try doing a full clean reinstall of the app as shown here.
